Frequently Asked Questions

North Carolina's first Constitution in 1776 included a provision for the legislature to establish schools. Education is a top priority for Margie, as she has dedicated her career to teaching our youth.
The state must guarantee a foundational education and empower parents with decisions over their children's learning pathways. This means supporting policies that properly fund public, private, and homeschool choices. How you choose to educate your family is not a right or wrong issue, but schools are either properly funded or they are not.
If schools don’t have the resources that teachers and staff need to provide a sound education, then funding is an issue. Our State is near the bottom in our nation for school funding- and she intends to fight for your current tax dollars to improve education in our state.
Financial Literacy in Schools: Empower middle and high school students with financial literacy classes covering budgeting, saving, investing, and debt management. This is crucial alongside the federal Trump Accounts program, which seeds $1,000 in investment accounts for newborns to grow for education or home purchases—ensuring NC kids maximize their savings through smart compounding. In District 26, let's be the first to prepare families for smart, lifelong investing for a prosperous future.

Every dollar of state transportation spending must deliver the maximum congestion relief possible.
Right now, North Carolina roads rely heavily on gas taxes decided in Raleigh — and those taxes keep going up. From around 36 cents per gallon in recent years to 41 cents today , the rate has increased to try to keep pace with needs. Meanwhile, the actual funding reaching our local roads — especially in District 26 — has not kept up.
She is not afraid to ask the tough question, with State taxes continuing to rise, why hasn't our funding for safe, adequate roads in District 26 kept pace? Our roads and infrastructure here are seriously inadequate. This problem demands real action at the state level — and as your NC Representative, she will fight to increase funding to our roads.

North Carolina has poured billions statewide into water and sewer upgrades. Yet here in Johnston County and District 26, we’re still dealing with old pipes, limited capacity, and rising costs. Towns like Clayton just got hit with another 10%+ increase in 2025 — and that’s after years of deferred maintenance and explosive growth.
While Raleigh keeps sending money to other regions, our share hasn’t kept pace. Too many decisions get made in the capital that leave District 26 behind as our communities boom and systems strain. State funding keeps growing — so why are our local water and sewer systems, and the bills our families pay, still falling further behind? We need bold state-level action now.
District 26 is growing fast. It’s time to elect a State Representative that will deliver the funding and focus we deserve.
